Working for what is TRUE, GOOD and JUST
Linda Avila is no stranger to a life of hard work, humility and service. Born and raised in Alamo, a city that sits just seven miles from the Mexican border in South Texas, Linda’s parents raised her to appreciate and embrace the fundamental values of honesty and integrity and to dedicate her life to all that is True, Good and Just. The first in her family to ever attend college, Linda holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology, a minor in Business Administration, and a Master’s Degree in Education. She holds professional certifications in Special Education, Bilingual Education and currently serves the public school system as an Educational Diagnostician.
Linda brings a wide range of educational experience spanning 30 years, throughout the state of Texas. She began her career teaching in a Special Education classroom for children who had severe emotional disturbances. She taught at both the elementary and middle school levels, as a Special Education resource teacher and Behavior Specialist. Linda now serves as a Bilingual Educational Diagnostician, providing evaluations to children with learning and intellectual disabilities. With her Bilingual and Special Education background, Linda has unique qualifications to provide evaluations to both the Spanish speaking and Special Education communities.
From Edinburg ISD to Irving ISD, from Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD and now onto Round Rock ISD, Linda has made her impact on students throughout the state, setting achievable standards of academic excellence while also focusing on underrepresented communities. As a product of public education herself, Linda understands first hand that it is often a child’s only path to success. An educator with a servant’s heart, Linda passionately advocates for the success of public education, particularly advocating for children of minority, economically disadvantaged, and special needs backgrounds.
Linda has been married to her husband Israel, an Army Veteran, for 18 years. They have two lovely children who both attend RRISD schools. Linda and her family are longtime members of St. Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock, where she is an active volunteer in the youth ministry.
We can transform how education is delivered in Round Rock ISD. Let’s do this together.
